9/25/2001 - my dermatologist diagnosed and positively biopsied an amelanotic (without melanin) melanoma on the left side of my neck.
10/9/2001 -- wide excision melanoma and sentinel lymph node biopsy performed under anesthesia in the Kaiser operating theater. staging was stage 1.
7/30/2007 - my dermatologist identified a large discolored patch on my forehead as a lentigo. biopsy for melanoma was negative.
1/23/2008 -- the lentigo on my forehead had started to spontaneously bleed -- my dermatologist biopsied and it was positive as a second melanoma, probably independent of the first one.
2/11/2008 - my new head & neck surgeon performed a wide excision removal of the lentigo on my forehead. staging was stage 1B. lymph node sentinel biopsies were again negative.
